Part 3: People’s help
I guess that most of the people searching for a new job fear to write down their resumes and cover letters because of the following reasons:
- They don’t know how to arrange their resumes and cover letter;
- The right sentences and words for the letter;
- They are afraid of failure;
- The vision and the way the document looks like – every salesman knows that the package sells the good!
- Last but not least – laziness!
Every day thousands of people over the net search for information on writing cover letters and resumes. Most of the searching results are connected to the phrase “Professional Resume Writer” or other similar synonyms. Let us take a look at the last word of the sentence “writer”. I open “Wikipedia” and read the meaning:
” A writer is anyone who creates a written work, although the word usually designates those who write creatively or professionally, as well as those who have written in many different forms. The word is almost synonymous with author, although somebody who writes, for example, a laundry list, could technically be called the writer of the list, but not an author. Skilled writers are able to use language to portray ideas and images, whether fiction or non-fiction.
A writer may compose in many different forms including (but certainly not limited to) poetry, prose, or music. Accordingly, a writer in specialist mode may rank as a poet, novelist, composer, lyricist, playwright, mythographer, journalist, film scriptwriter, etc. „
I read the sentence in bold once more. This is the key!
I personally have a friend who is a journalist and who gave me a hand in the composition of a unique letter. You can also find one if you already don’t have. It’s just that you are now thinking from a completely different angle and this will bring you to success. “Where can I find him?” – flashes a thought through your head. See where:
1.Your favorite blogs – no matter if you are interested in computers, cars and clothes, you know some people who are experienced in writing and who can help you for sure.
2.The dating sites or the different groups in “Yahoo” and “Google” – no matter if you are 20, 30 or 50 years old there are people whom you have contacts with only in the net. There are such people in the web, aren’t there?
3.Your acquaintances, relatives, friends – now is the time to open your phone book and your notebook. Your friend writer is out there and you haven’t even noticed him!
4.Forums – for example I am registered in 10-15 forums and when I was writing this article I had found among their users 3 people already! Search in the comments and see their signatures under.
Now when you’ve read those lines it seems much more easier to write your cover letter, doesn’t it?
