The last couple of articles that I wrote aimed to explain the meaning of keywords in the process of cover letter writing. I do not intend to spread pieces of advice reminiscent of “What to cover and exclude from a cover letter”. I will gladly leave this task to the professional resume writers.
I have already mentioned that I specialize in the sphere of sales. In view of my position, I will demonstrate to the readers how I could search for keywords in my field. After I’ve read the advertisements, I switched on the printer and printed them out. I took a pen and moved on to underline all words that are keywords in my view. They will definitely serve the purpose of the cover letter that I’m writing. This is example from ten advertisements. It isn’t that difficult, right?
Now, I would like to shift the focus to another point. When you write your cover letter or resume, ask yourself these three questions:
“Why should we hire you?”
“What are your strengths?”
“How do you see yourself contributing to our company?”
That`s what employers think.
Their answers + the keywords that you borrowed from the advertisement will give you a decent idea and a direction as to what you can write.
